Quarantaine d’Hiver apple tree produces many apples, generally medium-sized, or smaller if the tree carries a heavy crop.
The fruit is mild, low in acidity and crisp. It is traditionally used in winter, especially cooked, and can also be included in cider blends.
Harvest takes place in October. The apples are eaten from December and can keep until March in storage.
Quarantaine d’Hiver is generally well resistant to disease.
Flowering is late. It can be pollinated by Gosselet, Baguette Violette, Clermontoise, or any other good pollinating apple variety flowering at the same time.
This apple variety was typical of the Avesnois area and was appreciated for its good keeping ability. It is also a fairly abundant cropping variety.
We produce this grafted apple tree on several rootstocks, which influence the final size of the mature tree. It is available in several tree forms depending on availability.
