Roquet Rouge is a local variety from the Boulonnais region, particularly valuable for late-season pressing. Its large, sweet, high-sugar and only slightly bitter apples can be stored and pressed between November and January. The tree is vigorous, hardy and a useful pollinator. We recommend it for adding density, potential alcohol and roundness rather than providing all the tannic structure of a blend.

Disease sensitivity is average for scab, and the variety is not very sensitive to powdery mildew.
Flowering is mid-season. Roquet Rouge is a good pollinator.
This is a traditional cider apple from the Boulonnais area, in Pas-de-Calais, northern France. It was found in Samer.
