Rote Gardeteler is a rare and spectacular red-fleshed apple, with both skin and flesh developing an intense red colour. Its flattened fruit has an original sweet-sharp flavour with distinctive blackcurrant notes. Unlike many red-fleshed cultivars, it also has good winter storage potential. We recommend it to collectors seeking genuine flavour and keeping ability as well as exceptional colour.

Description

Rote Gardeteler red-fleshed apple tree produces relatively flat apples with fully red flesh.

The tree crops abundantly, giving apples with a balanced flavour between sweetness and acidity, with red fruit notes, especially reminiscent of blackcurrant.

The apples are picked during the second half of October and can store fairly well through winter, which is unusual among red-fleshed apples.

Rote Gardeteler is generally quite resistant, with no particular disease sensitivity noted.

Flowering is mid-season. It pollinates well with Cabarette and Colapuis.

Rote Gardeteler is a rare apple tree. Its foliage is purple, the wood is red inside, and the fruits develop their colour as they grow.
