Redford produces large dark red apples with red flesh marbled with creamy white. Crisp at harvest, fairly sharp and mildly sweet, the fruit generally performs best in cooking, sauces and coloured juice. The tree has reddish foliage, early purple blossom and genuine ornamental value. Its main limitation is a tendency towards biennial cropping as the tree matures.
