Seedless pear tree, or Sans Pépins, produces good-sized, fairly rounded pears over a long, gradual harvest period. The fruit has white, medium-fine flesh and, as its name suggests, no seeds.
The pear is sweet but does not keep for long. Its extended harvest period helps compensate for this limited storage ability.
Harvest runs from late August to early October, giving more than a month of picking.
Sans Pépins can be susceptible to scab, with no other particular sensitivity noted.
Flowering is mid-late to late.
This variety is widespread in Hauts-de-France and has also been found in Belgium. It is also known as Belle de Bruxelles or Belle Sans Pépins.
Its origin is thought to be German and to date from before 1789, where it was apparently known as Grosse Bergamotte d’Été.
Sans Pépins is a vigorous pear variety. We produce this grafted pear tree on several rootstocks, which influence the vigour and final size of the mature tree. It is available in several tree forms depending on availability.
