Comtesse de Paris pear tree produces good-quality storage pears. Its eating quality is good, though not exceptional; its main interest is its excellent keeping ability, which makes it possible to enjoy pears well into winter.
The fruit is picked in mid-October and is eaten from December to February.
Comtesse de Paris is a variety with low sensitivity to disease.
Flowering is early. It pollinates well with St Jean d’Hardelot and Sucrée de Montluçon.
Comtesse de Paris was obtained around 1893 by Mr Foureine in Eure-et-Loir, France. The variety spread quickly across France and is now a classic pear variety.
We produce this grafted pear tree on several rootstocks, which influence the vigour and final size of the mature tree. It is available in several tree forms depending on availability.
