Gris Brabant Apple Tree is an old apple variety also known as Gris Braibant or Reinette Grise du Brabant. It produces medium-sized rounded fruit with a rough green-ochre to grey-russet skin, sometimes slightly flushed on the sunny side.
The flesh is sweet and aromatic, with the typical character of a reinette apple. Gris Brabant is suitable for fresh eating, cooking, juice and cider, making it a versatile variety for traditional orchards.
This variety is appreciated for its good keeping qualities, with fruit capable of storing for several months under suitable conditions. It is also reported to be relatively tolerant of apple scab, while showing average sensitivity to powdery mildew and canker.
Gris Brabant is considered a traditional variety in Belgium and northern France, and remains interesting for heritage orchards thanks to its rustic character, regular productivity and long storage potential.
