Gosselet apple tree produces long-keeping apples intended for winter use. As a table apple, the fruit is initially tart, then becomes milder during storage.
The apples are picked in October and are eaten from January to May. Gosselet is therefore a true storage apple.
For storage, harvest the fruit carefully without bruising it, and keep it in ventilated crates in a cool, healthy and lightly ventilated place. Damaged apples should be removed during storage.
Gosselet can be susceptible to scab, but is not very sensitive to powdery mildew.
Flowering is mid-season to late. It can be pollinated by Baguette Violette, Marie Doudou, Quarantaine d’Hiver, or any other good pollinating apple variety flowering at the same time.
Gosselet is a Belgian variety obtained in Othée in 1870. It was widely grown in the traditional meadow orchards of the Avesnois-Thiérache region and was appreciated for its good keeping ability.
We produce this grafted apple tree on several rootstocks, which influence the final size of the mature tree. It is available in several tree forms depending on availability.
