Reinette de France ranks among the finest old dessert apples. Its firm, fine, crisp and juicy flesh has a sweet, gently sharp and highly aromatic flavour. Very late blossom helps avoid many spring frosts, while the tree shows useful resistance to scab. Its moderate vigour suits gardens, and the fruit can be stored through winter and into spring.

Description

Reinette de France is an old French dessert apple. Its origins are uncertain but it is still widely found across the north of France and the French-speaking area of southern Belgium (Wallonia).

The apples are a gold green color, often with extensive russeting. They ripen in late October, and can be stored for several months.

Reinette de France is easy to grow, flowers late to avoid spring frosts, disease-resistant – an excellent choice for your first apple tree.
