Red Star Red-Fleshed Apple Tree is a rare and well-known red-fleshed apple variety appreciated for its large fruit, tender flesh and unusual aromatic profile. At the beginning of ripening, the apple can be quite sharp, but the acidity gradually softens to reveal pleasant red berry notes.
The fruit is harvested and eaten from early October. It is suitable for fresh eating, juice and culinary use, and is especially attractive when cut open thanks to its red-coloured flesh.
Red Star is generally a healthy and resistant variety, with no particular disease sensitivity noted. The tree flowers in mid-season and pollinates well with varieties such as Cabarette and Colapuis.
This variety is considered one of the more reputed red-fleshed apples among amateur growers. Unlike some red-fleshed apple trees, Red Star has green foliage, while the fruit develops its colour at maturity.
The fruit can be sensitive to bruising, so careful harvesting is recommended if the apples are intended for storage rather than juice. Handle the fruit gently, place it in ventilated crates and store it in a cool, clean and slightly ventilated room.
Our Red Star apple trees are supplied bare-root and are available in different forms depending on age and current nursery stock.
