Zommerood red-fleshed apple tree produces summer apples with a faded red colour inside the flesh.

The fruit is sweet, strongly aromatic and interesting for summer eating. It is picked around mid-August and does not keep for long.

Zommerood is generally quite resistant, with no particular disease sensitivity noted.

Flowering is mid-season. It pollinates well with Cabarette and Colapuis.

Zommerood is a rare apple tree, although it is one of the better-known red-fleshed apples among private growers.

On this variety, the foliage is green and the fruit develops its colour as it reaches maturity.
