Verdun d’Hiver apple tree produces good-sized, uniform apples with a very good balance between sweetness and acidity.

The fruit is juicy and suitable both for pressing into juice and for eating fresh.

The apples are picked in October and are eaten from December.

This variety can be susceptible to scab, but is not very sensitive to powdery mildew.

Flowering is mid-season. It pollinates well with Cabarette and Colapuis.

This apple tree is noted as an excellent pollinator and was widely grown in the region for this quality.
