Melinda Red remains an experimental pear rather than a fully characterised cultivar. Its pink to red flesh is its genuine attraction, while early descriptions present it as juicy, mild and pleasantly sweet. There is still insufficient experience to assess exact ripening time, productivity, consistency and disease resistance. We would clearly offer it as an unusual collector’s cultivar still undergoing evaluation.

Dispatch generally takes place from late November to February, depending on the weather and the progress of lifting the trees.

Our Melinda Red pear trees were initially produced for our own trials, and a limited surplus is available depending on current nursery stock.
