Coloradona cider apple tree is a recent Spanish selection, developed for its naturally red flesh, good productivity and resistance.
The fruit is medium to large, rounded and regular, with a bright red skin over the whole surface. The flesh is intensely red, juicy, tangy and very aromatic.
Coloradona is harvested in October and has medium storage ability, keeping until around January in good conditions.
For cider making, Coloradona gives a bright red juice with marked acidity, good freshness and strong aromatic character. It is well suited to fruity ciders, modern blends and visually distinctive juices.
In blends, it brings colour, liveliness and fruit notes. As a single-variety cider apple, it can produce original, visually attractive ciders.
The tree has medium to strong vigour and comes into production quickly. It is productive and regular, with good hardiness and low sensitivity to frost.
Flowering is mid-season to late. Coloradona has very good resistance to scab and natural tolerance to powdery mildew.
This variety is adaptable to temperate and slightly continental climates, and can also suit medium-altitude orchards. It is suitable for standard or half-standard orchard planting on vigorous to semi-vigorous rootstocks.
We supply Coloradona cider apple trees bare-root from November to March, on rootstocks adapted to the soil, desired vigour and orchard density.
