Rose de Berne, also known as Berner Rosen, is an attractive Swiss variety for growers seeking red, juicy and aromatic apples. Its fine, tender flesh has a sweet, mildly sharp and gently spicy flavour. It performs well in cool regions and at higher elevations. The autumn fruit can keep until December or February depending on harvesting and storage conditions.

Description

Berner Rosen is an attractive medium-sized dessert apple. The green skin is usually almost entirely covered with a deep orange / red flush, flecked with dots.

The flesh is firm and fine-grained, and the flavour is rich and aromatic.

Also known as Rose de Berne, Berner Rosen was raised in the late 19th century in Oppligen, near the city of Bern.
