Autumn Reinette d’Angleterre apple tree produces large apples with tender, tart and very juicy flesh. It is a very good apple for fresh eating, with a balanced flavour, and also has good qualities for pressing into juice.
For juice making, it is useful to combine it with other apple varieties that can be pressed at the same period, such as Reinette Descardre or Reinette Etoilée.
The fruit is picked in mid-September and keeps until November at the latest. For storage, the apples should be harvested carefully, without bruising, and kept in ventilated crates in a cool, healthy and lightly ventilated place.
This variety can be affected by disease, but remains fairly resistant overall and produces good-quality vegetation.
Flowering is early. Reinette d’Angleterre d’Automne can be pollinated by Reinette des Capucins, or by any other good pollinating apple variety flowering at the same time.
This apple was found throughout the Hauts-de-France region, originally under the name Reinette d’Angleterre. Pomological research by the CRRG indicates that it is not the true Reinette d’Angleterre, so it was renamed Reinette d’Angleterre d’Automne and is considered to be a regional apple rather than an English one.
We produce this grafted apple tree on several rootstocks, which influence the final size of the mature tree. It is available in several tree forms depending on availability.
