Lanscailler is an old dual-purpose apple variety. The large apples ripen in the first half of September and at this point are good for eating fresh, with a firm sweet/sharp flesh. However this is primarily an apple for cooking and especially for juicing.
Our Variety Assessment
Its strengths, growing requirements and the conditions in which it performs best.
Lanscailler produces large heritage apples that can be eaten fresh in September but are particularly valuable for cooking and juice. The tree is very hardy, productive and well suited to traditional standard orchards, although it can be slow to begin cropping. As a triploid and poor pollinator, it should be planted with two other compatible flowering varieties nearby.
