Datil Plum Tree is an old plum variety producing small black plums with very sweet flesh. The fruit can be eaten fresh, but is also well suited to processing, especially for jams, preserves and drying.
This variety is appreciated for its very healthy foliage and strong disease resistance, making it a reliable choice for orchard and garden cultivation.
Datil ripens progressively from mid-August to mid-September, extending the plum harvest season. It flowers during mid-season and pollinates well with varieties such as Reine Claude d’Althan and Goutte d’Or de Coe.
Originally an old variety, Datil has regained interest in south-west France thanks to its flavour, rustic character and suitability for traditional plum uses.
Our Datil plum trees are grafted onto different rootstocks and offered in several forms. The rootstock determines the vigour and eventual adult size of the tree.
