Médaille d’Or is an outstanding French full bittersweet cider apple with high sugar and tannin levels. It produces robust, fruity and full-bodied cider and is also valuable as the foundation of a blend. Very late flowering helps reduce exposure to spring frost. Its late-ripening fruit nevertheless requires a sufficiently long autumn to develop its full richness and quality.

Description

Medaille d’Or is a traditional French cider variety, which produces a very good quality full bittersweet juice with a high sugar content. The juice is notably tannic.

Like many old English and French cider varieties it comes out of dormancy very late – in May or early June, and the fruits don’t ripen until November.
