Blackdown blackcurrant bush produces firm berries in many small clusters. The flavour is relatively mild and sweet.
The fruits hold well during cooking and the variety gives very regular production.
Blackdown is not very sensitive to powdery mildew.
This is a late-ripening blackcurrant variety.
Blackdown is self-fertile, so a single plant can produce fruit.
This variety appeared in England in 1974.
We supply Blackdown as a bush, with several branches starting from the base of the plant. Fruiting may be possible in the year of planting.
