Bluecrop

Bluecrop Blueberry is a classic and highly reliable blueberry variety, appreciated for its generous crops of medium-sized berries with a rich aromatic flavour. The fruit is pleasantly sharp, well balanced and refreshing when fully ripe.

Bluecrop usually ripens in July, making it a useful mid-season variety for extending the blueberry harvest. Plants can often begin producing from the first year after planting under good growing conditions.

This variety is one of the historic blueberry cultivars introduced into France and remains widely appreciated for its productivity, reliability and good fruit quality.

Like all blueberries, Bluecrop requires very acidic, well-drained soil to grow well. The ideal pH is around 4.5 to 5.5, and generally below 6. In many gardens, replacing the planting soil with ericaceous compost or heath soil is strongly recommended.

Bluecrop can also be grown successfully in a large container of at least 30 litres, provided it receives regular watering and suitable fertilisation. Blueberries particularly benefit from iron-rich nutrition in addition to standard feeding.
