Meeker raspberry plant produces a large crop of flavourful red raspberries, with good-sized fruit.
This is a non-everbearing raspberry variety. It gives one main harvest in July, generally more abundant than that of everbearing varieties.
Meeker prefers cool, rather acidic soils. Mulching with fragmented ramial wood can help recreate conditions similar to a woodland edge and support good growth.
After fruiting, remove the canes that have finished cropping and thin out any surplus canes. Keeping the strongest young canes for the following season helps maintain good production.
An open pruning structure also helps reduce disease pressure, including botrytis.
Meeker is self-fertile, so a single plant can produce fruit.
