Swietlana Cornelian cherry tree (Cornus mas) produces dark red cornelian cherries, considered among the most delicious and sweetest varieties.
The fruit is well suited to fresh eating and preserves. The French source notes a sugar level of 14%, acidity of 2.5%, and high vitamin C and flavonoid content.
Swietlana ripens evenly at the end of August. The fruits fall to the ground when they reach full maturity.
The tree is naturally resistant to diseases and crops very regularly from year to year.
Budbreak and flowering occur very early, but the flowers have excellent frost resistance.
Swietlana is a Polish variety bred at the Bolestraszyce Arboretum.
We supply Swietlana as a grafted Cornelian cherry tree on seedling rootstock, grown in pot as a one-year plant, with an average height of around 1.4 m.
