Owari is the satsuma we would recommend first for discovering cold-tolerant mandarins. Its seedless fruit is sweet, exceptionally juicy and remarkably easy to peel, and may already be ripe while the skin still shows some green. The tree remains reasonably compact and productive. The fruit is less frost-tolerant than the tree, so a warm, bright and sheltered position is important.

Owari Satsuma is hardy down to around -12°C. It is a small, productive citrus tree with a naturally weeping habit.
We supply this citrus tree grafted on different rootstocks and grown in pots of various sizes, depending on availability.
For citrus planting, choose a warm, sheltered position, protected from wind, ideally in a favourable microclimate. A position near a wall can help improve growing conditions, especially in cooler regions.
Citrus trees appreciate warmth, water and fertile soil. They are best planted in spring, once the soil has drained and warmed. Young potted plants are less hardy than established trees planted in the ground.
Owari Satsuma can also be kept in a pot long term, provided it is grown in a sufficiently large container and fed properly.
