De Moncheaux cherry tree produces sour cherries that are sweeter than average for this type. They are juicy and aromatic, with good flavour for processing.
The fruit is mainly suited to cooked and preserved uses, such as pies, jam, liqueur and fruit brandy.
Harvest takes place gradually from early to mid-July. Other cherries can extend the season, such as Grosse Cerise Blanche de Verchocq in early July or Blanc Nez from mid-June.
Flowering is mid-late. De Moncheaux pollinates well with Blanc Nez and Blanche d’Harcigny.
De Moncheaux is a regional cherry variety that was formerly propagated by Albert Mathis, a nurseryman in Faumont, in the Pévèle area of northern France.
We produce this grafted cherry tree on several rootstocks, which influence the final size of the mature tree. It is available in several tree forms depending on availability.
