Grosse Cerise Blanche de Verchocq suits gardens and orchards seeking a large, unusual pale cherry. Its cream-yellow fruit is firm, very crisp and sweet, excellent for fresh eating in early July and generally less noticeable to birds. We recommend it as a dessert cherry. A compatible cultivar with a similar flowering period is required.

Description

Gros Cerise Blanche de Verchocq is a mid-season white cherry – the cherries are actually a creamy-yellow colour, and quite large.

This is a bigarreau-style variety, maturing in early July. The flesh is notably crisp and sweet.

Old regional variety rediscovered at Verchocq in Pas-de-Calais, typical of the Boulonnais and the Haut-Pays d’Artois. Origin date not found, white dessert cherry reputed to be less attractive to birds.
