Suntan is a high-quality English apple for growers who enjoy intense flavours. A cross between Cox’s Orange Pippin and Court Pendu Plat, it develops a rich, sweet-sharp and highly aromatic flavour, sometimes reminiscent of pineapple. The fruit stores into winter. As a triploid and self-sterile cultivar, it requires two pollinators and can be susceptible to canker and mildew.

Suntan is a large apple, notable for its well developed aromatic flavours and balancing acidity. If you like strong fruity apple flavours it makes a great choice. The apples have a sharp flavour if eaten straight from the tree, which mellows and develops after a few weeks.

Suntan couples its excellent flavours with the classic English orange-flushed hues, making it an attractive apple for the fruit bowl.
