Somerset Redstreak is an English bittersweet apple producing deeply coloured, fruity cider with generous but generally smooth tannins. Its juice can be used for blending or distinctive single-variety cider, sometimes showing a gently peppery finish. We recommend it for traditional Somerset-style cider. The fruit ripens late and therefore performs best in regions with a sufficiently long autumn.
