Saint Jean d’Hardelot is planted to harvest pears before almost every other cultivar. Its small yellow fruit, sometimes blushed in sunshine, is mild, melting and aromatic from late June or early July. This is a pear for eating directly from the tree, as it has virtually no storage life. Small size matters little when the aim is to open the season exceptionally early.

Description

Saint Jean d’Hardelot produces small, but very fragrant sweet golden yellow pears. It is a very early variety and the fruit is generally ready to pick at the end of June or early July, so it is a good variety to start off your summer of fruit production.

Like all early pear varieties, Saint Jean d’Hardelot pear will not keep long so they are best eaten straight from the tree.
