Martin is well suited to cold climates and home orchards seeking large fruit that is quick to harvest. Its sweet-tart berries ripen unusually evenly, reducing the number of picking rounds. This is also its main limitation: much of the crop becomes ready at once and needs to be eaten, processed or frozen without delay.

Description

Martin is a well-known Canadian Saskatoon variety. The fruits are relatively large with good sweet-sharp flavour.

Unlike most Saskatoons which ripen progressively over a period of a week or so, the fruits of Martin tend to ripen all at once – making harvesting quicker and easier, provided you can process the resulting abundance of fruits.
