Susquehanna suits regions with a sufficiently long, warm early autumn. We recommend it to demanding enthusiasts seeking an intense flavour: its very large fruit contains very few seeds and has firm, creamy, exceptionally sweet and aromatic flesh. Late ripening limits its reliability in cold, short-season climates, and another pawpaw cultivar is required for good pollination.

Susquehanna pawpaw tree produces large fruits, up to around 500 g, with few seeds.
The flesh is aromatic, very sweet, firm and creamy. Pawpaw fruit has exotic aromas that can recall banana, mango or pineapple depending on the variety.
Harvest takes place from late September to mid-October.
The tree is hardy down to around -25°C and no particular disease problems are noted for this species.
Susquehanna is self-sterile and needs another pawpaw variety nearby for pollination. Any other variety can serve as a pollinator and be pollinated in return.
Pawpaw plants can be delicate at planting. They establish best when planted after growth has started, then watered during dry periods in the first years and kept free from excessive weed competition.
We supply Susquehanna as a grafted pawpaw tree on seedling pawpaw rootstock. The plant is grown for three years, with one year of graft growth.
