Interspecific plum tree Kometa Pozdnaya is a hybrid plum producing fruit of around 30 to 40 g. The plums have good keeping qualities, with juicy, semi-firm flesh, an aromatic flavour and a rather sweet taste.
This variety comes from a complex genetic background involving Prunus cerasifera (myrobalan plum), Prunus salicina (Japanese plum), Prunus ussuriensis (Siberian plum) and Prunus simonii (Chinese plum). This diversity gives the fruit a distinctive character compared with more common plums.
The Siberian plum background contributes to good frost resistance on the flowers, while the Japanese plum influence brings productivity. Kometa Pozdnaya also shows good disease resistance.
Harvest takes place from late July to August. Budbreak and flowering are early, and the variety is self-fertile.
Kometa Pozdnaya was created in 2006 from a cross between Kometa and another unknown parent.
We produce this interspecific plum tree on several rootstocks, allowing different final tree sizes, and offer it in several tree forms depending on availability.
