Myrobalan is the traditional rootstock for large, full-sized plum trees. Seed-raised, vigorous and strongly anchored, it suits traditional orchards, a wide range of soils and trees intended for long-term planting. Mature trees commonly reach 5–6 m or more. It requires generous spacing and, as a seedling rootstock, can produce some variation in vigour between individual trees.

Dispatch generally takes place from late November to February, depending on the weather and the progress of lifting the trees.
Myrobalan is a standard fully vigorous rootstock, compatible with all European plum varieties, and the best choice if you want to plant a traditional plum orchard.
Myrobalan produces a mature tree with a height of 5m – 6m or more, and fruit production should start at the age of 3-4 years. No staking is required once the tree is established.
The trees should be spaced 5m – 7m apart.
