Field Maple (Acer campestre) is a hardy native maple tree appreciated for its early spring flowering, which provides a valuable food source for bees and other pollinators at the beginning of the season.
It is an attractive countryside tree with smaller, rounded foliage compared with many more common maple species. As the tree matures, its bark becomes increasingly fissured and textured, giving it strong ornamental and natural character.
Field Maple generally reaches around 10 to 12 metres in height, but it can also be managed by regular pruning, pollarding or traditional “têtard” training to keep it at a more moderate size.
Our Field Maple plants are available as one- to three-year-old nursery plants, depending on current stock.
