Shin Li Asian Pear Tree is an unusual nashi-pear hybrid originating from a cross between an Asian pear and a European pear, made in California. It produces abundant crops of sweet, crisp and juicy fruit with a distinctive spicy aroma.
The fruit combines the refreshing crunch of nashi with some of the aromatic qualities of European pears, making it particularly interesting for fresh eating.
Shin Li is harvested during October. The tree flowers in April, slightly before many mid-season European pears, although the flowering periods usually overlap. It can be pollinated by varieties such as Williams.
This variety is generally not very prone to disease, although nashi and nashi-pear hybrids can be more sensitive to fire blight than standard European pear trees.
Our Shin Li Asian pear trees are grafted onto different rootstocks and offered in several forms. The rootstock determines the vigour and eventual adult size of the tree.
