Kumoi does not produce the largest Asian pears, but fruit quality more than compensates for its moderate size. The golden russeted fruit has crisp, juicy and sweet flesh with a richer flavour than many heavily cropping cultivars. It is an excellent dessert pear. Its susceptibility to fire blight requires careful monitoring and prompt removal of any affected shoots.
