Description

Luizet Apricot Tree is an old French apricot variety obtained near Lyon in the 19th century by Gabriel Luizet. It is appreciated for its large fruit, reliable productivity and good adaptation to cooler continental climates.

The apricots are large and oval, with yellow-orange skin often touched with red on the sunny side. The flesh is firm, juicy and aromatic, with a pleasant balance of sweetness and acidity.

Luizet is suitable for fresh eating, pastries, jams and traditional culinary uses. The fruit generally ripens during the second half of July, depending on local climate conditions.

This variety is self-fertile and flowers semi-late for an apricot, which helps reduce the risk of spring frost damage. The tree is vigorous and hardy, making it an interesting choice for regions where apricot growing can be more challenging.
