Manera is particularly well suited to northern France and other cool climates when given a warm, sheltered position. We recommend it to gardeners with room for two apricot trees. Late blossom, hardiness and firm, sweet, aromatic fruit are its main strengths. Its key limitation is pollination: Manera is not self-fertile and needs Mia planted nearby.

Description

Manera is a bi-coloured orange/red apricot variety suitable for the cooler climates of northern Europe.

The fruits weigh 50g – 70g in commercial conditions, with 13% sugars.

Variety characteristics

Variety origin

Swiss variety from the Agroscope breeding programme, corresponding to selection ACW 4353 and marketed by Varicom. Exact breeding date not found; released as a varietal innovation at SIVAL 2022 to develop apricot growing in the northern half of France.
