Robijn Almond-Peach Hybrid Tree is one of the most reliable almond varieties for producing almonds in cooler climates, particularly in regions north of the Loire where traditional almonds can be more uncertain.
This almond-peach hybrid is appreciated for its regular cropping and high-quality nuts. The almonds are sweet, mild and very aromatic, making them suitable for fresh eating, drying and culinary use.
Robijn is self-fertile, meaning that a single tree can produce almonds without requiring another variety nearby for pollination. It flowers late for an almond, usually around early March, helping to reduce the risk of spring frost damage compared with earlier-flowering varieties.
The harvest begins from late August, especially for fresh almonds. This early ripening is an advantage in cooler regions, where a shorter growing season can limit almond production.
For best results, plant Robijn in a warm, sunny and sheltered position, protected from cold winds and spring frosts. In northern climates, planting near a wall or in a well-exposed site can greatly improve flowering, fruit set and nut ripening.
Our Robijn almond trees are grafted and trained in the nursery, then supplied bare-root in several forms and on different rootstocks according to the intended garden or orchard use.
