We recommend it to growers wanting a single almond tree, as it is self-fertile, productive and regular cropping. The kernels are sweet and flavoursome. Severe blossom frost can still reduce the crop, and cold or waterlogged soils should be avoided.

Avijor was obtained by INRA in 1978 and registered in 1991. It is also known under the Lauranne name and comes from a cross between Ferragnès and Tuono.
Almond trees appreciate warmth and should be planted in a sunny, sheltered position, protected from wind and spring frosts. In northern climates, planting near a wall can help provide better growing conditions.
A healthy, ventilated site that is not too humid will also help limit disease pressure during flowering.
