Feijoa is worth growing for its silvery evergreen foliage and remarkable edible flowers even before the fruit is considered. The green fruit develops a distinctive pineapple, strawberry and guava fragrance, but needs a warm position and favourable autumn to ripen properly. Planting two genetically different specimens usually improves cropping. It is as successful as an ornamental shrub as it is an unusual fruit plant.

Feijoa Pineapple Guava is an attractive evergreen shrub appreciated for its exotic edible fruit and ornamental qualities. The aromatic fruit has a distinctive flavour often compared to pineapple, guava and strawberry.
In spring, the plant produces attractive flowers with white petals and bright red stamens, making it highly decorative as well as productive. The flowers are also edible and slightly sweet.
Feijoa is well suited to mild climates and sheltered gardens, where it can be grown as a fruiting shrub or ornamental hedge.
