Casque Rouge Black Locust (Robinia × margaretta ‘Casque Rouge’) is an attractive ornamental tree appreciated for its spectacular clusters of deep pink to reddish flowers in late spring and early summer.
The pea-like flowers hang in generous racemes and are highly attractive to bees and other pollinating insects. They contrast beautifully with the light green pinnate foliage, giving the tree a soft and elegant appearance during the growing season.
Casque Rouge is generally more compact than the common black locust, making it suitable for gardens, avenues and ornamental landscape planting where a flowering tree of moderate size is desired.
This variety prefers a sunny position and well-drained soil. Once established, it is relatively tolerant of dry conditions and is valued for its ornamental flowering, light canopy and graceful habit.
