Palatina almond tree produces sweet almonds with a soft shell that is very easy to open. The kernel has a very mild flavour and an average size.
This variety comes into production quickly and offers good yield potential.
Palatina is self-fertile, so a single tree can produce fruit. Flowering is very late for an almond tree, around mid-March.
Harvest is very early, from late August.
Palatina is a German selection of sweet almond.
Almond trees appreciate warmth and should be planted in a sunny, sheltered position, protected from wind and spring frosts. In northern climates, planting near a wall can help provide better growing conditions.
A healthy, ventilated site that is not too humid will also help limit disease pressure during flowering.
We graft and train our almond trees in the nursery, in open ground. They are then supplied bare-root, in several tree forms and on different rootstocks depending on availability.
