Fall Gold Raspberry is a remontant yellow raspberry variety producing very large golden-yellow berries with excellent sweetness and rich flavour. The fruit is attractive, aromatic and well suited to fresh eating, desserts and preserves.
This everbearing variety can produce two harvests: an early crop from June on the previous year’s canes, followed by a later crop that continues through autumn, often until October or even later in mild seasons.
Fall Gold is self-fertile and does not require another raspberry variety for pollination. Its yellow fruit also brings an original colour to the garden and is particularly appreciated by growers looking for something different from traditional red raspberries.
Like other raspberries, Fall Gold prefers fresh, slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter. Mulching with wood chips or ramial chipped wood helps maintain soil moisture and recreates the cool woodland-edge conditions raspberries naturally enjoy.
For pruning, remove two-year-old canes that have finished fruiting. On remontant varieties, one-year-old canes that have fruited at the tips can be shortened to encourage the following crop. Keep the strongest canes and maintain an open, well-aired plant structure to help reduce disease pressure, especially Botrytis on the fruit.
