Hayatama Asian Pear Tree is one of the finest nashi varieties, appreciated for its very juicy and crisp fruit with a pleasant aromatic aftertaste. The fruit is refreshing, sweet and fragrant, making it excellent for fresh eating.
Hayatama is harvested in September and can be enjoyed directly from picking, with good storage potential extending into December under suitable conditions.
The tree flowers in April, slightly before many mid-season European pears, although the flowering periods usually overlap. It can be pollinated by varieties such as Williams.
This variety is generally not very prone to disease, although nashi trees can be more sensitive to fire blight than standard European pear trees.
Asian pears are still relatively uncommon, but they deserve more attention for their refreshing fruit quality and ornamental value. The tree is attractive in the garden, with larger glossy leaves and more decorative bark than many traditional pear trees.
Our Hayatama Asian pear trees are available in different forms and ages, from one-year maidens to two-year feathered trees.
