Patte de Loup du Volvestre Chestnut Tree is an old chestnut variety from Ariège, appreciated for the very high eating quality of its nuts. It belongs to the traditional chestnut type, valued for rich flavour and authentic character.
The variety is rustic and well suited to traditional orchard planting. It has a fairly late budbreak, which can be useful in areas where spring frost may be a concern.
Patte de Loup du Volvestre ripens in November and offers very good keeping qualities after harvest, making it suitable for fresh eating, roasting and traditional culinary uses.
Our Patte de Loup chestnut trees are produced in several forms and on different rootstocks, allowing the choice of vigour and tree form according to the planting situation.
