Discovery is one of the best early apples for Europe’s cooler climates. Its bright red fruit is crisp, juicy and pleasantly sweet-sharp, sometimes with a light strawberry note. The tree has a relatively compact habit and is generally easy to grow. Harvest begins in August, but the apples should be eaten fairly quickly because storage life remains short.

Description

Discovery is probably the most well-known early English apple variety, ripening in late August. It is very easy to grow, and has excellent natural disease resistance.

The apples have a brisk sharp flavour and in some years there is a hint of strawberry.

Discovery also excels as a variety for juicing, as it produces a very well-balanced sweet/sharp juice
