Emerald Lace Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum ‘Emerald Lace’) is an elegant dissected Japanese maple appreciated for its finely cut, lace-like foliage and graceful spreading habit.
The young leaves emerge in fresh yellow-green tones, often lightly edged with pink, before turning light green to emerald green during spring and summer. In autumn, the foliage develops beautiful shades of orange, red and scarlet before leaf fall.
This cultivar forms a broad, arching and slightly weeping shrub or small tree, generally reaching around 2 to 3 metres in height depending on growing conditions. Its delicate texture makes it ideal for ornamental gardens, patios, Japanese-style planting and specimen use.
Emerald Lace performs best in a sheltered position with moist but well-drained soil. Partial shade is often ideal, especially in warm or windy locations, to reduce the risk of leaf scorch.
