Du Verger is especially valuable for cider makers seeking a rare and distinctive regional variety. Rediscovered near Fontaine-lès-Vervins in northern France, it produces thick, fruity, sweet and tannic juice that adds structure to blends. The tree is well suited to cooler northern climates. Its high tannin content generally makes it more useful in blends than as a single-variety cider.
