G214 offers a useful compromise: the tree remains compact and early bearing but has slightly more strength than the most dwarfing Geneva selections. It suits trained forms, central leaders and dense orchards where broad disease and replant resistance are also priorities. It should not be regarded as freestanding, however, and long-term support is preferable under the weight of regular crops.

Geneva G214 Apple Rootstock is a semi-dwarf apple rootstock from the Geneva® breeding programme, producing trees slightly more vigorous than M.9 but generally less vigorous than M.26.
G.214 is appreciated for its excellent productivity, good precocity and balanced tree development, making it suitable for modern high-density orchard systems. It produces well-feathered nursery trees with good yield efficiency.
Like many Geneva® rootstocks, G.214 also offers strong resistance to fire blight and Phytophthora root rot, together with improved tolerance to replant conditions. Its combination of controlled vigour and disease resistance makes it an interesting alternative to traditional dwarfing rootstocks.
